 New Year's Message from Rinpoche

(Adapted from his address this morning)

As we see today, the internal negative emotions of passion, aggression and ignorance can surge to create horrible and gruesome levels of suffering for others. They and the deeper level of clinging to self are the root problem of what we see in the world today. So what's happening can remind us that if we cultivate bodhicitta and altruism as our core practice, the negative emotions and self-importance will not spin out of control in our own minds. This is where all Buddhist practice starts. The Buddha said, if you can not benefit others, at least do them no harm. We start there, then strive to be of benefit.

When the negative emotions do surge out of control in others to create so much harm, what we can do is pray, and the prayers we make, not just as one, but as 1000's of practitioners across the world, along with dedicating the merit of positive deeds, can bring change. So we must pray more sincerely and deeply right now and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, if there are conditions for something to change, will do everything they can do make that change. This is what continually comes to my mind as a new year's resolution, especially the discipline to tame our mind and not cause harm to others, and I offer that to you as a contemplation for this moment and this year.

I am greatly encouraged by how much of the world is on the same page right now. It is heart-warming.We are all in solidarity praying for new conditions to come. Peace treaties to be signed. Cease fires to be signed. Soldiers to return to their home with good health and refugees to return to their own home and for their country's future to be in the hand of its citizens to freely choose the path ahead. Please pray and dedicate as fervently as you can.

I've gotta TRY to catch up on things since I KNOW THAT I AM BEING OVERWHELMED BY MASSIVE INPUTS, and all this needs to be synthesized, honed down, to a single track, a single speaker cone, a single laser (see PHASED ARRAY LASER and/or SDI). This prayer is very helpful. I do it all the time, day and night, whenever there’s a need. It was given directly to Thangtong Gyalpo’s teacher by Avalokiteshvara himself for Thangtong Gyalpo to spread, and later he received it from his teacher and spread it. It has been one of the most powerful refuge prayers of all.

I had an entire position and post to establish "As Being" but as I re-read the several BULLET POINTS I was working through, from, I suddenly, at a point, began singing this song in my head at a given point.
